La Forestière Du Nord is a French company founded in 1975 that sells charcoal, firewood and barbeques. Their charcoal comes from Lithuania and Latvia and is sold under their home-brand Grill O’ Bois.
La Forestière Du Nord has been importing charcoal from the same partner production sites for over a decade, five of which are in Latvia and several other in Baltics states. All these factories use the same wood species and the same carbonization system which gives the Grill O’ Bois brand a uniform quality.
We work together on field visits & deploy the CCS (Charcoal Control System) tool on the entirety of its supply chain. This tool helps the company pinpoint which improvements can be made by giving a score to each of these four pillars: no deforestation, no exploitation, full transparency and full traceability of the supply chain. We usually visit each supplying factory once a year, and the CCS is updated.
La Forestiere Du Nord sources are checked back to the forest using the Charcoal Control System (CCS) that we put into place. Using the CCS, recommendations are given to improve the different aspects linked to responsible charcoal production. Following up on the CCS, we check the progress made over time.
