About the Landscape programme

We approach landscapes holistically, working in an integrated manner on sustainability and responsible sourcing across clearly defined sourcing areas, collaborating with key stakeholders from the private and public sectors, farmer associations, and civil society in each landscape. In particular, we believe it is critical to leverage market connections and work with all different commodity sectors in a landscape to drive transformation. Only by working together with other actors can progress be made.

Your Mission

You are keen to drive innovation across the Southern Central Forest Spine (SCFS) landscape by working collaboratively with farming communities (especially Oil Palm Smallholders) to understand their business, improve their collaboration and create value. Having a comprehensive understanding of sustainability issues in the Palm Oil and other commodities you will continuously seek new opportunities and present ideas to increase the resilience of smallholders and communities in existing supply chains to climatic or economic fluctuations.

Being the Smallholder & Community Programme Project Lead in SCFS landscape your day will be primarily focused on:

  • Diagnose, propose, develop and supervise the implementation of transformative work plans related to Income Diversification, Regenerative Agriculture & Farm Productivity;
  • Select, lead and motivate a project team of both internal and external stakeholder
  • Develop and Manage a database, capturing comprehensive output/ outcome/ impact..
  • Produce required reports for a variety of audience
  • Engage stakeholder including businesses, NGOs, government agencies etc.
  • Identify business development opportunities and fundraising ( i.e., proposal development)
  • Promote and improve visibility of the programme through a clear and targeted communication
  • Update the leadership teams on progress, challenges and issues
  • Conduct strategic development to increase farmers’ access and participation to markets

Your Profile

  • Education: Master’s / Bachelor degree or other equivalent in agricultural, sociology, rural development, forestry, natural resource management, environmental, conservation or social sciences, business ..
  • Experience: 4 to 8 years with increasing responsibilities in programme and people management
  • Language(s): Bahasa Malaysia & English (other language an advantage)
  • Employment: 2 year contract subjected to conversion to permanent role thereafter
  • Salary range: Annual Base Salary (gross) MYR 90’000 – 120’000, pro-rated to the start date
  • Location: based in SCFS landscape’s field office (Rompin /Pekan) minimum 80% of the time. Any request to be based outside of landscape is at the discretion of line manager.

You thrive on human relations and are able to explain your field to a variety of audiences. Your expertise in the field and the strength of your proposals make you a valuable asset to a team. You are enthusiastic about developing and delivering group training and individual consultations and have a proven record of data management, with the goal of producing fact oriented and impactful reports.

  • Able to interpret GIS and other mapping tools
