The Operations Manager will be working with Indian businesses on sustainability initiatives, and will demonstrate excellent writing and management skills. Passion about environmental and social issues and aspiration to secure a career within a dynamic non-profit that builds partnerships with companies, governments and civil society to bring responsible products to market are fundamental in this role.

Your mission

Being the Operations Manager in India your day will be primarily focused on:

  • Staff wellbeing, in line with the organisational policies;
  • Staff high quality deliverable and timely outputs;
  • Legal, financial and general administrative functions' alignment with local legislative requirements and organisational policies and procedures;
  • Legal representation for the operations in India;
  • In collaboration with the Regional Director and Regional Senior Management Team:
    • Engage staff to actively collaborate and work in service of the regional strategy and organisation mission;
    • Foster strong relationships with Earthworm clients and Members sourcing from India;
    • Support targeted business development opportunities that contribute to building the organisations long term financial resilience;
    • Support the quality and timeliness of proposal and report development process for funding partners (company, foundation and donor);
    • Co-design programs and partnerships to engage farmers and key supply chain actors that build resilience, generate alternative livelihoods, tackle social challenges and regenerate farming land and the environment;
    • Manage projects with multiple objectives, set realistic deadlines, manage a timeline, and ensure accountability.
  • Official spokesperson for Earthworm in India and where needed organisationally;
  • Communications outputs in coordination with the Regional Communications Manager;

Your profile

  • Experience : 10 years minimum in business sustainability, conservation or agriculture
  • Education: Bachelor degree or more
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Employment Rate: Full-time
  • Language: English & Hindi

Work Experience & Profile

You thrive on human relations and are able to formulate clear and logical approaches with varied audiences bringing positive outcome. Your knowledge, leadership and the strength of your proposals make you a valuable asset to cross-cultural teams in a fast-moving, complex and changing environment.

Experience in project management with a track record of working with business, government and/or non-government stakeholders and proven ability to secure new business and income. You also master the art of using diplomacy and tact to navigate tough negociations, build healthy relationships and motivate people.

Being a natural leader, and effective planner your are able to independently prioritize and drive multiple projects simultaneously in an accurate and reliable manner.

Working conditions

  • India national or foreigner with legal permission to work in India.
  • Immediate start date but can be staggered and/or differed, depending on the candidate’s availability.
  • Frequent trips inside India and operating out of the New Delhi base; and potentially to other countries in South East Asia.
  • Our global operations span many time zones, which means staff may be required to work outside office hours.
