About Rurality

Rurality is a program run by the Earthworm Foundation, which seeks to catalyse innovation among businesses and small farmers in the production chain. About 2 billion people around the world live and work on small, often family farms. These farmers are not just the lifeblood of production chains; they are innovative with the potential to profoundly and positively impact the human and natural ecosystems that surround them. Rurality, an EF initiative, believes they are entrepreneurs who should be empowered to realize their vision. Rurality places the farmer at the heart of society. The initiative uses an entrepreneurial approach to work with farmers participating in existing production chains. Significantly, the initiative believes that there is no one recipe for all solutions. Staff are field oriented and work side by side with farmers and companies. Ultimately, the initiative seeks to identify empirical and practical solutions to empower family farmers and build their resilience.
