Bordet is one of the main charcoal producers in France and has been family owned company since 1860.
Bordet aims to fully trace their charcoal supply chain in order to guide action eliminate deforestation and exploitation.
Bordet produces charcoal from its factory in central France. Together we decided to deploy the CCS (Charcoal Control System) tool on the entirety of the company’s supply chain. This tool helps the company pinpoint which improvements can be made by giving a score to these four pillars: no deforestation, no exploitation, full transparency and full traceability of the supply chain. The factory is visited each year, and the CCS is updated, depending on its original CCS score.
Bordet’s charcoal can now be traced back to the forest, which in turn provides insight on where and how to improve charcoal production.
