Earthworm Foundation publishes Directory of Palm Oil Industry Stakeholders in Malaysia
News 4 oct. 2019

Stakeholder engagement is essential to advance No Deforestation, Peat and Exploitation (NDPE) commitments. As such, Earthworm Foundation has developed a Directory of Palm Oil Stakeholders in Malaysia to provide brands, buyers, consumers and interested parties an overview of palm oil industry players in Malaysia.

The directory covers the following categories of organisations -- government and federal agencies, downstream and upstream industry organisations, smallholder organisations, certification bodies, and trade unions. Industry-focused players, such as associations and trade unions, can raise awareness among their constituents on key sustainability and responsible-sourcing topics. These include preventing forced and bonded labour, ensuring community land rights are respected, and protecting forests and peat lands.

Government bodies also play an important role in overseeing the industry. They have the potential to create an enabling environment to advance NDPE commitments through regulatory and policy processes.
